What is the best way to use Pinterest?

Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Photography: Pinterest has become a great tool for anyone who is a budding amateur photographer, whether you're a hobbyist or an avid hobbyist. It's a great place to share the images you've shot, and encourage people to view more of your work.
  2. Design and DIY: Even those who are not all that creative can still be inspired by the wonderful pin art created by pinners.
  3. Vintage: We've mentioned this before, but we'll reiterate the point that pinners are creative and it's easy to see why: the thing they're all searching for are the exact things they can use in their home. We love it.
  4. Fashion and beauty: For those who love a good roundup of what's on the style scene right now and upcoming fashions, Pinterest is a great resource. It's a good place to find makeup and beauty tips, and also where to find outfit inspiration.
  5. Food: Pinners love food, so it comes as no surprise that this is a popular category. It's fun to check out what recipes are popular at the moment, or to shop for the ingredients that go into the recipes.
  6. Home decor: Everything you could ever need to redecorate, decorate or improve your home can be found on Pinterest. You can get ideas on how to paint your room, or ways to spruce up your yard.
  7. Blogs: With so many great blogs out there, it's easy to get lost, and that's where Pinterest comes in handy. There are a wide variety of blogs, and Pinterest is a good place to find the blogs and the inspiration that goes with them.
  8. Social media: While Pinterest is primarily a social network, you can actually see which pins you've "liked" in the social feed of the website.
  9. Creating your own blog: We're sure that you know this, but if you don't, start one today!
Get inspiration, pin some stuff and discover new friends!

To that end, here are some other great sites to get you started:

  • Bloglovin'
  • Pinterest
  • Yahoo! Pin It
  • Facebook
  • Flickr
  • Google Plus

A few of these would make good places to start your own online social network, if you're not already up and running. And that's the way to go: A little while ago, we introduced a new tool that we think can help you out: The SocialMention Social News Reporter. The site takes a look at what's trending on social media in your niche, and highlights it for you in an easily digestible format. The SocialMention website is also a great way to generate leads when you put together a strategy for growing your social following.
